I recently purchased a 1971 Triumph T100C and had a few questions if someone could help:

    1. Is the oil for the engine (tank) and the primary chain case seperate on this year or is it the same source? I read read somewhere that for 1971 it is no longer necessary to fill primary chaincase? I want to change the oil and could use some advise.
    2. My tank color is Olympic Orange with Black stripes, was this original to the T100C or only the Daytona model?

    Thanks

ON 1971 models the engine oil and primary oil are the same. Oil moves in to primary from crankcase pressure, then any overflow drains back in to the case. If you drain the primary you should put a few ounces of oil in just to get things started, after that it is self levelling. Do not put ATF or other trans lubricants in the primary as it will eventually end up in the engine.  I use 20/50 in most of my bikes.
