I have been using 20-50 Castrol RS 4T synthetic in the engine since I got this bike (about 2 months ago) I notice that as I shift it seems like the clutch is dragging. I have adjusted it but still feel the gears slightly when shifting. I pull in the clutch rev the motor to make sure the clutch is disengaged and then shift. Slight gear interaction. If I go to a lighter oil will this help. I know the clutch sits in an oil bath shared by the engine, so a lighter oil (if desireable) in the primary will do little good. Any thoughts? Thanks

You will probably always feel the gears engage. The gearbox on this bike is 1950's technology, scaled up from the 200cc Tiger Cub.. I remember my own T100c had almost no ratchet "click" as I went through the gears, but I could feel the engagement and know I had actually shifted.  I am curious about the synthetic oil. First I like synthetics, but had a bad time with Golden Spectro. The clutch plates would stick together(severely). Not while riding but while sitting. When I would start the bike, 1st gear could not be engaged. I could only free the clutch by putting it in gear and rocking the bike while holding the clutch in. Have you had any trouble like this? If you are getting clean shifts and can find neutral at a stop light. All is probably well.

Todd, I like synthetics most of the time because of its smaller molecules able to get into tighter spaces. That being said...it depends on the vehical. My GMC van does not like synthetics, it runs great but it burns it up; maybe going past the rings easier?

So that being the case I thought I would try it on the T100C. The clutch does not stick, its the the slight interaction in the gears when shifting. Again I pull in the clutch wait a second before shifting. I emptied the primary, and filled it to the correct level with Maxum4 Premium Oil 10w40 mineral oil. No report yet.

I just wanted to make sure I was not hurting anything...I treat it like a baby!

    Thanks for your help!
